GUNTUR: Collector Kantilal Dande has ordered the officials concerned to supply protected drinking water to all the villages in the district and take up repair works of bore-wells. He also asked them to utilise the grants from the 13th Financial Commission, state finance, general funds and drinking water schemes, if required.

Addressing a meeting with the mandal parishad development officers (MPDO) and Rural Water Supply (RWS) officials at ZP Meeting Hall here Wednesday, the collector directed them to carry out random tests by collecting water samples from the bore-wells and check the amount of residual chlorine in it.

He also asked the MPDOs to submit a report on why people were not using the available individual sanitary lavatories(ISLs) and finish the pending works of the ISLs in the district allotted under Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan (NBA) scheme.

He later instructed the officials to check/repair the comprehensive piped water (CPW) schemes and chalk out a distribution network for the villages, which do not have internal water supply facility.

Drinking water supply and ISLs in Gurazala and Narsaraopet need special attention, he said and added that eligible people were included in the welfare schemes after revalidating the bank’s consent.

ZP chairperson Sk Janimuna, vice-chairman V Purnachandra Rao, ZP CEO B Subba Rao, RWS officials and the MPODs of 57 mandals in the district participated.
