Woman Found Dead, Murder Suspected

An elderly woman was found dead in her residence at Ayyanapalem area of Pedagantyada here Thursday.

VISAKHAPATNAM: An elderly woman was found dead in her residence at Ayyanapalem area of Pedagantyada here Thursday.

According to sources, B Mahalakshmi (73) was staying on the ground floor of her three-storied house, while her elder son puts up on the third floor. On Thursday around 2 pm, a couple approached Mahalakshmi for renting the first floor of the house. After sometime, they paid the advance and left. At around 5 pm, the couple again came back to Mahalakshmi. The trio went again to the first floor house and after a couple of minutes, the couple left the building.

The neighbours found Mahalakshmi dead with missing ornaments on the first floor of the house. Police sent the body to King George Hospital for postmortem. Investigation is on.

Man killed for rape bid

Chittoor: A woman battered a man to death for trying to sexually assault her at Gudipalle mandal late Wednesday night. After the woman was taken into custody, women’s organisations came to her support and staged a protest demanding her release. The incident took place in Hattinattam village of Gudipalle mandal. The woman was watching TV along with her two infant children, when P Kistappa, of the same village entered the house. He tried to sexually assault her, but she managed to free herself and attacked the accused with a stick and later with a boulder, killing him in the process.
