VISAKHAPATNAM: High tides have spread panic among the beach visitors Saturday as it lashed against the walls of Gokul Park near RK Beach here. Scientists and academicians have warned the visitors against venturing into the sea. Tides reaching the height of up to 1.5-2 m were witnessed along the beach area.
Explaining the sudden change in the sea behaviour, K Bhanu Prasad, a retired professor from AU Oceanography and Meteorology Department said that this was the most active monsoon when compared to the ones in the past.
However, VSN Murthy Chief Scientist of National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) said that they have not yet received any reports on the increased height of tides Saturday and termed it as an effect of the pro-cyclone climatic conditions.
