MACHILIPATNAM : Excise minister Kollu Ravindra has reiterated that the government is committed for the welfare of the fisherfolk and assured to implement all welfare schemes strictly. He gave away cheque worth `20 lakh, under fuel subsidy scheme, to the mechanised boat owners and `1 lakh to V Padma, wife of V Venkanna, a fisherman who died while fishing.
“Unlike the previous Congress government, we will strive for the development of fishermen by providing subsidy on boats and nets. The finance minister increasing the compensation amount for fishermen, who die while fishing, to `2 lakh was a glaring example,” he said.
ZPTC Lanka Narayana Prasad said that they would provide fuel subsidy through AP State Cooperative Bank Limited to those who got fiber boats. Municipal chairman Motamarri Baba Prasad and fisharies DD T Kalyanam were present.
