VIJAYAWADA: The NSS wing of Velagapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College (VRSEC) organised an awareness programme for the students on the Right to Information (RTI) Act here Tuesday.
Andhra Pradesh state information commissioner, P Vijaya Babu, addressed students, asking them to value human standards over caste, creed and money and told them that they could file RTI applications to seek information from the government, especially in the wake of building a new capital.
The commissioner also added that every citizen was entitled to information from the government and that students should use this tool for development of the society.
VRSEC director, K Mohana Rao, said that the RTI Act can be used to improve the accountability and transparency in the government, and asked the students to effectively utilise the Act.
