ONGOLE: District collector GSRKR Vijay Kumar has directed the transport officials to arrange boards with traffic rules and regulations in the accident prone areas of the district to avert mishaps.
The collector took part in a bike rally at Zilla parishad mini stadium as part of Road Safety Week celebration here Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, Vijay Kumar said that most road accidents occur due to indiscipline and negligent driving.
He asked the auto drivers not to overload the autos with passengers and cautioned the citizens to wear helmet, seat belts and avoid drunk driving. He also added that the heavy vehicle drivers should not drive more than eight hours a day.
Road transport department officers B Rama Rao, P Ravi Kumar, Ch Pavan Kumar, Traffic CI B Ravi Chandra and others were present.
