VIJAYAWADA: Local MP Kesineni Srinivas has urged the Centre to form a dedicated organisation like IRCTC to provide passenger amenities on highways like hotels, rest rooms and food courts. He also urged the Centre to allot funds for the highway expansion projects in Andhra Pradesh state.
Speaking on the need to develop the highways in Andhra Pradesh in the Lok Sabha Wednesday, he urged the minister for road transport and highways for approving an annual plan layout of Rs1,163.64 crore which includes bridge works for 2014-15 for the state of Andhra Pradesh.
He urged the minister to take up the Vijayawada-Jagdalpur Road ( Old NH-221 and New NH-30) on a stretch of 70 km between Ibrahimpatnam and Tiruvur, Pamarru-Digamarru Road (Old NH-214 and New NH-165) and Kathipudi-Ongole Road (Old NH-214A and New NH-216) on a stretch of 391 km projects.
The MP also urged the Union minister to construct the flyovers at Kanaka Durga temple and at Benz Circle in the city.
