RAJAHMUNDRY: Mayor Pantham Rajani Sesha Sai is initiating necessary steps to streamline the administration in the corporation office. As part of it, she has decided to convene coordination meetings with the officials of various departments regularly to deliver the goods to the people in right time.

Supplying pure drinking water, proper maintenance of sanitation, making Rajahmundry as a planned city on the lines of Chandigarh and giving a facelift to the bathing ghats have been accorded high priority, the mayor has announced here Monday.

Lighting and roads will be developed and vast tree plantation will also be taken up in the city. Division-wise inspections will commence after the council meeting to be held on July 24. Shifting of intake water point at headwater works will be undertaken, which has been a long-pending demand of the people. Directions have been issued to respective departments to immediately clean the accumulated garbage on the surface of the Godavari River, she explained.

Diverting of Nalla Channel will be taken up to avoid pumping of drain water into the Godavari River. Proposals to a tune of `160 crore have been submitted to chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu as regarding Godavari Pushkaram works. Municipal Corporation will also celebrate the celestial fete in a massive way, she added.
