KAKINADA: Deputy chief minister and minister for home Nimmakayala Chinarajappa has warned the Pedapudi police for not being able to trace an undertrial who escaped from the police station Thursday.

Speaking to TNIE over the phone Friday, Chinarajappa said that the incident was a glaring example of negligence on the part of the PS staff.

Responding to a question that some members of the staff let go the accused by accepting a bribe of `1 lakh, he said action would be taken against those responsible for the incident.

According to Pedapudi SI Sumanth, one P Siva Kumar of Jagannathapuram was taken into custody on July 23 in a bind-over case. He denied taking bribe to free the accused. On July 24 morning, the sentry guided him to the toilet and attended a phone call. Taking advantage of this, Siva Kumar escaped from the rear side of the PS.
