VIJAYAWADA: Even before the state could come to terms with the school bus tragedy in Medak, another bus belonging to Sri Chaitanya Techno School in Jaggaiahpet had narrowly escaped a major accident, Friday.

The incident occurred at Ramachandrunipet village in Jaggaiahpet mandal, when the tyres of Sri Chaitanya Techno School bus, carrying 48 students, suddenly got separated from the moving bus Friday morning. The bus driver, noticing it, immediately halted the vehicle, averting a major accident and informed the school management and police about the mishap. Chillakallu (Jaggaiahpet rural) police rushed to the spot, cleared the traffic jam and arranged another bus for the students.

Sub-inspector of police Nagaraju said that no student was injured. “The bus was registered in 2010, and the road transport authority (RTA) officials inspected the vehicle and cancelled its fitness certificate. The MRO is planning to launch a school bus inspection drive to ensure safety,” the SI added.
