VISAKHAPATNAM: INS Circars, the premier depot ship of Eastern Naval Command, will be observing its platinum jubilee celebrations on December 12 this year. As part of the celebrations, the ENC is gearing up to invite all the officers (serving or retired) who worked at INS Circars earlier and make them participate in an array of activities scheduled to be hosted on the occasion.

The naval establishment plans to host blood donation camp, visits to orphanages and old-age homes, and construction of community facilities in naval residential areas. A trekking-cum-cycling expedition to Thatipudi Dam and a Platinum Jubilee Run at Dolphin Hill are also on the list. Apart from conducting a symposium on ‘Evolving Role of Depot Ships’, a special cover issued by the department of posts and a photo essay book will be released.

Circars, which was established as a small naval base during the British regime in 1939, was rechristened as INS Circars, post-independence, and has played vital role in providing administrative and logistics support to the naval units and personnel.

Officers willing to participate in the historical event can send their contact details to the Coordinator of Platinum Jubilee Celebrations on email ID or          contact 0891-2812498/2577527.
