VISAKHAPATNAM: A 13-year-old girl student of a ZP high school in Valimeraka Juttada village of Pendurty mandal was allegedly raped by a relative of the school martial arts trainer.

Though the incident took place about a month and a half ago, it came to light on Monday when the girl and her parents lodged a complaint. The police arrested the accused, B Kishore Kumar, 21, Tuesday and produced him in a court which sent him in judicial remand for 15 days.

According to the police, the girl has been learning martial arts in the school under school physical trainer Lakshmana Rao. Kishore Kumar,  the nephew of Lakshmana Rao, used to visit the school to help the students during practice. He later developed friendship with the girl.

About one-and-a-half months ago, the accused invited the girl to witness a karate competition and took her to Lankelapalem. He allegedly raped her at a desolate place there and then threatened to kill her if she revealed the matter to her parents. Scared, the victim remained silent after returning home. However, her parents, who noticed that she had not been keeping well since returning from the event, persuaded her to speak out following which the atrocity came to light.

On a complaint lodged by the parents, the Pendurty police registered a case and arrested the accused.
