VMC May Review Water Cess Hike

VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Council meeting, which is scheduled for August 6, may take up several issues for discussion, including the review of the recent water charges hike, as it was proposed by the deputy mayor of Vijayawada, Gogula Ramana Rao.

According to VMC sources, Sk Beejanbi, member of Ward No: 36,  proposed to discuss the silting of outfall drain under the railway line near the Nizam Gate which is leading to blockage of roads in Wynchpet, and also the appointment of a new sanitary inspector for the division.

Dasari Malleswari of Ward No. 4 proposed the revocation of all the taxes that were introduced during the special officer rule and construction of retaining wall around the Devineni hill.

She also proposed to discuss the widening of the culvert at Padavalarevu Centre and Revenue Colony in Machavaram Down area, which is leading to rain water stagnation of road.

Other council members also proposed to discuss various problems in their respective wards, at the Council meeting, the  first after the new body was formed early this month.
