AP Government Announces Dates for Intermediate Exams

HYDERABAD: Even as the AP government sought the opinion of Telangana government for conducting Intermediate exams jointly, AP human resources development minister Ganta Srinivas Rao on Thursday unilaterally announced that the exams would commence from March 11 next.

He said, the AP government has tentatively decided to conduct first year Inter exams from March 11 and second year from March 12.

“The file relating to this has been sent to the Telangana government. We are awaiting  a positive response from the Telangana government as it would help the students of both AP and TS,” Ganta said while addressing mediapersons here.

After a joint meeting with his Telangana counterpart G Jagadish Reddy failed to resolve the issue, the AP government had shot off a letter to Telangana government requesting co-operation for holding common exams, Ganta said.

“The AP government had written a letter seeking cooperation from the Telangana government. We hope they would consider our proposal in view of students’ interests in the two states,” he added. While Telangana government is demanding for conducting separate exams, the AP government is insisting for common examinations claiming that the move would affect students in both the states with regard to Eamcet.

Although there was no response from the Telangana government over the proposals made by the AP government, it is learnt that the TS government would not budge from its stance of holding separate exams.

“There is no way that Telangana government would agree to AP government proposals. A high-level meeting would be held in a couple of days to chalk out plans for conducting separate exams for Inter students in Telangana,” a senior official of the Board of Intermediate told Express.
