Collector Inaugurates Emergency Centre

KAKINADA: East Godavari district collector Neetu Prasad inaugurated Industrial Emergency Response Centre (IERC) at the office of the deputy chief inspector of factories in Kakinada Monday. The centre was opened to alert the district administration at the time of mishaps in the industries. Speaking on the occasion, the collector said after GAIL pipeline blast incident at Nagaram village, the district administration has alerted the managements of factories and other companies to initiate safety measures. As part of it, IERC came into existence.

Oil and gas majors like ONGC, GAIL and Reliance Industries Limited need constant attention to meet any contingencies like leakages, fire mishaps and other industrial hazards, the collector said. Three people will work in shift system round-the-clock at the centre, she said and added that the centre will be shifted to office of district fire officer after some time.
