75 Acres of Sugar Factory Attached

VISAKHAPATNAM:  As the NCS Sugar Factory management has failed to pay the dues to the tune of `25 crore to the farmers, district collector MM Naik has attached 75.11 acres belonging to it at Lachhayyapeta village in Sitanagaram mandal of the district.

The collector appointed the tahsildar of Sitanagaram mandal as the guardian of the lands. He said the lands would be auctioned after issuing a sale notice and the auction amount would be paid to the farmers.

Naik also said that the other assets of the factory would also be attached, if need be. As many as 10,000 farmers have supplied about 3.27 lakh MT sugar cane worth `75 crore to NCS during the  2013-14 crushing season.
