Train Thief Held, Rs 3.5 L Booty Seized

VISAKHAPATNAM : The GRP Friday arrested a 29-year-old fake passenger who was stealing cash and valuables of passengers of A/C coaches in trains. The thief has been identified as K Srikanth and GRP sleuths seized stolen currency of various countries including Indian, the USA, Chinese, Nepalese and Japanese, all worth over `3.5 lakh, along with three ATM cards, passports, visas, mobile phones and other valuables from him.

GRP Visakhapatnam inspector G Koteswara Rao said that a Japan national Nao Weatanade and another woman of Nagaland lodged separate complaints with the GRP personnel in Rajahmundry stating that they were roobed in the Second AC coach of Coromandel Express from Howrah to Chennai. The theft occurred after the train passed Visakhapatnam, they said.

The Visakhapatnam GRP sleuths, on the lookout for the thief, found him moving suspiciously at the station Friday. On questioning, the accused confessed his crime.
