IIIE 56th Convention on Sept 11-13

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering (IIIE) is organising its 56th National Convention at the Multipurpose Hall in Ukku Club of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant from September 11 to 13. Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) chairman-cum-managing director P Madhusudan will inaugurate the convention at 4 pm. The theme this year is ‘Productivity: Foundation to Sustainability’.

IIIE-Visakhapatnam chapter is hosting the event, which provides an opportunity for industrial engineering professionals to familiarise, update and exchange views and ideas on emerging technologies, new concepts, their implementation and challenges being faced.

The conference will deliberate on India’s inherent strength, which needs to be fully harnessed and leveraged in the global context. The focus will be laid on the need for achieving the ‘triple bottom line’ (profit, people and planet) for sustainable economic growth through productivity improvement in different areas like supply chain, lean management, energy efficiency, environment management, quality, safety, etc. It also provides a platform for exchange of ideas among professionals on the convention theme and allied fields.

The convention is hosting a productivity competition aimed at promoting innovation and nurturing a focus on productivity at the work place. Best practices, success stories achievements will be showcased through case study presentations.

On the second day, the plenary sessions will be inaugurated by Eastern Naval Command chief vice-admiral Satish Soni. IIT-Roorke former director Premvrat will be the chief guest of the valedictory and NSTL principal associate director Debasish Chakraborti will be the guest of honour.
