Vatti, Panabaka Lakshmi, Raghavan to Get AU Honorary Doctorates

VISAKHAPATNAM: Prof. SV Raghavan, scientific secretary, Government of India, will deliver the 82nd convocation address of Andhra University to be held at the CR Reddy Convocation Hall in the varsity on September 29.

Raghavan, former professor of IIT-Madras, is presently working as the adjunct professor of IIT-Delhi. He devised an Infrared Imaging System based on non-invasive method for breast cancer screening and transferred the technology to industry.

AU vice-chancellor GSN Raju told newsmen here Wednesday that chancellor and governor ESL Narasimham will present an honorary doctorate to Raghavan on the day. Admit cards of the candidates selected for gold medals, prizes and PhD awards will be sent online, he added.

Rector EA Narayana and registrar K Ramamohana Rao and Media Relations associate dean Challa Ramakrishna were present.

Student Bags Gold Medal

Kakinada: An M.Pharmacy student of Koringa College of Pharmacy, Sobha Rani M, bagged the Nageswara Rao Gold Medal, Prof D Visweswaram Shastibdipoorthi Award and Pharmacy Dept Silver Jubilee Award for 2013. College correspondent P Kanaka Raju said the she will receive the gold medal from the governor at the AU Convocation.
