Inter Student Hangs Self in Hostel

VIJAYAWADA: A second year Intermediate student of a corporate college committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his hostel room at Gosala here Thursday. The deceased was identified as Tarigonda Ashok Kumar (17), son of Mallikharjuna Rao and a resident of Pileru in Chittoor district.

The hostel authorities called a plumber to repair a pipe on its premises Thursday morning. While undertaking the works, the plumber found Ashok Kumar hanging from the ceiling fan in his room, already dead. While the other students went for study hours at 4.30 am, Ashok Kumar reportedly stayed in the room. His elder sister is also taking long-term coaching for EAMCET in the same college.

The body was shifted to government general hospital for postmortem and Ashok Kumar’s parents were informed about the incident.

The police registered a case and are yet to ascertain the reason for his death.
