VISAKHAPATNAM: Former director of IIT, Roorkee, Premvrat, has underscored the need for introspection on production for sustainability.
Delivering a lecture on the concluding day of the 56th National Convention of the Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering (IIIE) hosted by its Visakhapatnam Chapter here Saturday, he drew an analogy between engineering and biological sciences and emphasised upon optimising the output from the less available resources through sustainable methods.
Principal associate director, NSTL-Visakhapatnam, Debasish Chakraborthi highlighted the theme ‘People, Planet and Profit’ to enhance technological powers. In an era of environmental degradation, sustainability was the key solution, Chakraborti said.
The valedictory started with the presentation of solar torch lamps to the guests. Around 300 delegates attended the convention .
