Pachyderms Wreak Havoc in Chittoor

CHITTOOR: A herd of five elephants entered into farm fields located Urlavandlapalle, Mardupalli and Peddamallnuru villages of Kuppam mandal and damaged the crops in the early hours of Sunday. According to forest officials, a total of five elephants entered into the fields and damaged five acres of tomato crop, two acres of cabbage crop and four acres of mango crop. The crops reportedly belongs to eight farmers residing in the respective villages.  The loss of damage is expected to be `1.25 lakh. Forest officials assured the farmers and villagers that elaborate security measures would be taken.
