GUNTUR: Pulichintala Project II special deputy collector S Subramaniam has been surrendered to the government due to his alleged negligence in discharging duties.

According to joint collector Vivek Yadav, the special deputy collector had shown negligence in the implementation of the  relief and rehabilitation package (RR package) to the oustees of the Pulichintala Projcet. It may be worth mentioning here that about 500 people are still living in Gollapet and Kollur villages of Achampet mandal citing reasons like no allotment of houses or lack of facilities at the rehabilitation villages.

In the wake of these developments, district collector S Suresh Kumar has surrendered the special deputy collector, Subramaniam, who is the incharge of the R & R package, to the government.

The irrigation authorities have decided to store 11 TMCFT in the reservoir from this year as against its total capacity of 44.75 TMC. Though the irrigation authorities served notices on villagers asking them to vacate their houses, they are not heeding the advice. However, the officials say that they will soon shift all those people to new houses built in the rehabilitation villages.
