And a Mega Circuit for the Sleepy Village

Though the State government is planning to develop Kuchipudi village into a tourist destination, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) Divisional Manager  T Baboji says they have submitted a proposal for development of  several tourist centres in Krishna district under the mega circuit project.

There is a proposal to set up a multi-cuisine restaurant, a 53-room accommodation for tourists coming from distant areas and a cultural auditorium at Kuchipudi.

There is also another proposal for construction of a star hotel and setting up of a huge aquarium on the lines of the one in Singapore at Hamsaladeevi. The idea was to develop a 70-km tourist circuit from Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi via Srikakulam where the famous Andhra Mahavishnu temple exists, Kuchipudi and Mopidevi, the place of the famous Subrahmanyeswara Swamy temple. Ghantasala, the place where Buddhist relics have been found, would also be developed. A proposal at an estimated cost of ` 60 crore has been submitted to the Centre.
