Tributes Paid to Mahakavi

VISAKHAPATNAM: Rich tributes were paid to poet and social reformer Gurajada Apparao on his 152nd birth anniversary in the Port City Sunday.

At Gurajada Kalakshetram, Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority incharge vice-chairman MV Seshagiri Babu and secretary GC Kishore Kumar garlanded the statue of Gurajada. They recalled the contributions of Gurajada in the areas of literature, social reforms and drama. Seshagiri Babu described Gurajada as an ‘icon and pride symbol of Telugu people’ forever. “While his ‘Kanyasulkam’ drama elevated the Telugu stage art to the global-level, Gurajada himself served as a torch-bearer to the society through his social reforms.” The students of Sri Prakash Vidya Niketan took part in the event.

Members of Sahithi Sravanthi, a literary organisation, paid floral tributes to Gurajada’s statue near RTC Complex and remembered his works.
