VIZIANAGARAM: Considering the population statistics, nurses would be recruited soon in all the government hospitals across the state, even as there is a dire need for 10,000 nurses. Meanwhile, all the staff in government hospitals, except doctors, will be recruited through outsourcing system, medical and health minister K Srinivas has said.

Addressing a review meeting with the medical officers here Thursday, the minister observed that the truncated Andhra Pradesh needed super specialty hospitals, and the government was initiating steps in this regard. The government would also re-launch the ‘108’ services shortly, he said, and assured to put in his best efforts for granting a medical college for Vizianagaram.

On the occasion, rural development minister K Mrunalini requested Srinivas to release more funds to the primary health centres (PHCs) and strengthen them by deploying more doctors, particularly paediatricians, gynaecologists and general surgeons.

Zilla Parishad chairperson Shobha Swati Rani, MLA KA Naidu and collector MM Naik also spoke.
