Policy on Loan Waiver by Month End: Minister

HYDERABAD: The cash-starved Andhra Pradesh government which has till now not come up with a clear policy on the issue of crop loan waiver has expressed hope that it would arrive at a decision by Sep 30.

Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat here Friday, Agriculture Minister P Pulla Rao said all the bank’s heads are meeting on September 29 on the loan waiver issue and after this meeting a clear picture would emerge.

He said from the promised `1 lakh loan waiver amount, 50 per cent would be paid and for the remaining 50 per cent certificates would be issued. Stating that Aadhaar card would not be mandatory for availing crop loan waiver, the Minister said the government would accept other cards such as ration cards in the place of Aadhaar.
