VIJAYAWADA: Manipal Hospitals, Vijayawada, organised ‘Walkathon’ on the occasion of the World Heart Day, celebrated around the world Sunday.
The event was organised in association with the Siddhartha Walkers Club from 6.30 am to 7.30 am to signify the importance of exercise for a healthy heart. Around 200 people took part in the event.
With an increasing number of cardiac cases in the city, Manipal Hospitals, Vijayawada, took a vow to preach the precautions that need to be taken across several spectrums of our health which include, gender, age and lifestyle. The occasion was marked by several awareness activities like distribution of Healthy Heart Package Leaflets, a poster exhibition on cardiovascular diseases, free blood pressure check-up camp and ‘Health Talk’ by cardiologists and CTVS surgeons of the hospital. Manipal Hospitals also announced a ‘Healthy Heart Package’ with a whole range of treatment at a discounted rate of `9499. This will be valid till October 21, 2014.
Speaking on the occasion, G Karthihaivelan, unit head, Manipal Hospitals, said, “Nowadays, it is imperative for us to move to preventive care, rather than a curative one. We at Manipal Hospitals, Vijayawada, on this occasion took a proactive measure to impart this subtle knowledge that can be lifesaving, along with a greater ambit of awareness and knowledge about our heart.”
