MACHILIPATNAM: The National Food Security Act (NFSA) is being implemented in the district from April onwards and as per the Act, every eligible beneficiary will be provided 5 kg rice per month as against 4 kg issued earlier. Annapoorna card holders will be getting 10 kg of rice for free.
There are 10.67 lakh white ration cards, 496 Annapoorna cards, 6,756 Antyodaya Anna Yojana cards. For the implementation of NFSA, 31.30 lakh kilograms of rice will be additionally distributed through PDS every month in the district.
Starting this month, ePoS machines will be used formally in 511 shops. Already on pilot project basis, these machines were being used in those shops in the last couple of months. Joint collector G Chandrudu said training in operation of ePoS has been given to fair price shops dealers.
