HYDERABAD: With crores of devotees expected to throng various ghats of Krishna River in Krishna and Guntur districts during the 12-day-long Krishna Pushkarams, the power department has decided to undertake ‘pole to pole survey’ in the Amaravati capital region to ensure 24x7 quality illumination at the ghats.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, while holding a teleconference with officials of the power department on Sunday, asked them to make efforts to put in place the best of facilities for the devotees on a 24X7 basis during the Pushkarams to be held from Aug 12 to Aug 23.
“Proper illumination at the Ghats and connecting Streets is a prerequisite for the same. Entire State government machinery should work in coordination with all the key departments during the Pushkarams,” he instructed them.
According to principal secretary (energy) Ajay Jain, the Chief Minister suggested the Energy and MA&UD departments to conduct a pole to pole survey for ensuring better illumination. Hence, an inspection will be done during the night on Aug 3 in Vijayawada and Guntur cities to examine the efficeiency of LED Streetlights.
“APSPDCL is spending about `85 crore for providing power supply and distribution infrastructure at 159 ghats,” he said.
Day one of Anthya Pushkarams gets lukewarm response
