MM Naik takes charge as EPDCL chief

VISAKHAPATNAM: MM Naik took charge as the chairman and managing director of the APEPDCL at the corporate office at Seethammadhara here on Wednesday. He is the ninth CMD of the discom since its operation in 2000. The government appointed him after transferring  R Mutyala Raju as the Nellore collector.

Assuming the office, Naik told the media that the course of repforms in the power sector would be continued. “Whatever reforms and novel ideas were brought in by my predecessor Mutyala Raju to keep the standard of the company on par with the standards will be continued.” he said.

“In particular, I wanted to use the technology tool to meet the expectations of both the government and consumers with the cooperation of the staff,” Naik said. Special focus would be laid on the grounding of state and Central government schemes like Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameena Jyothi Yojana (DDUGJY), Power for all, apart from ensuring  24X7 quality power supply to the consumers.

Naik, a 2005 batch IAS officer, worked as the collector of Vizianagaram.
