Vice chief of Navy on maiden visit to ENC

VISAKHAPATNAM: Vice Chief of Naval Staff (VCNS) Vice Admiral Karambir Singh arrived here on Thursday on a three-day maiden visit to the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) after taking charge as the VCNS on May 31.

The VCNS called on ENC Chief Vice Admiral HCS Bisht and was briefed on the activities of the command. The VCNS is also scheduled to visit all major naval establishments here.

During his 36 years of service in Navy, Karambir Singh has commanded an Indian Coast Guard Ship, a Naval Missile Corvette as well as Guided Missile Destroyers. On promotion to flag rank, he was appointed as Chief of Staff, the ENC. His other important flag appointments include Chief of Staff of the Tri Services Unified Command at Andaman and Nicobar Islands and as the Flag Officer of Maharashtra and Gujarat Naval Area (FOMAG).

In the rank of Vice Admiral, he has been the Director-General of Project Seabird, in-charge of infrastructure development of the Navy’s expansive and modern base at Karwar, followed by a tenure as the Deputy Chief of Naval Staff prior to taking charge as the VCNS.
