VISAKHAPATNAM: After visiting the Arilova Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), Kapuluppada dumping yard and the mini dumping yards at Mudasarlova on Monday, GVMC commissioner M Harinarayanan asked the officials to keep a check on the construction of STPs.
GVMC executive engineer (UGD) Rammohan explained about the functioning of the STPs to the commissioner who then gave suggestions to be made at the laboratories where the treatment procedures are recorded.
The commissioner also expressed concern over the left over water that is being released into the canal. The weighing slips that issued at the 95 acres-dumping yard at Kapuluppada will soon be made online. Harinarayanan questioned the closure of the processing unit at the mini dumping yards in Mudasarlova. “ We are discussing over a permanent solution to treat waste and to convert the energy into electricity” said the commissioner.
