AU VC pays surprise visit to girls hostel

VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra University vice-chancellor G Nageswara Rao made a surprise visit to the AU girls hostel at Maharanipeta on Tuesday. He was disappointed with the maintenance of the hostel infrastructure and facilities. He checked the facilities provided for the students, observed the preparation of food in the kitchen and advised the cooks to make it a point to provide hygienic food in clean surroundings. The VC interacted with the students and elicited their suggestions.

He told the engineering officials to immediately take up repair works. Rao asked  chief warden T Sobha Sri to write a letter to him on the pending works. “More drinking water facilities should be set up at the major places in the hostel and departments,” he said. Later, he visited some departments in the varsity and found that some of the professors and research scholars were not punctual to their work. He also found that the researchers are irregular and sought an explanation from them.
