4 of family hurt in knife attack

GUNTUR: In a horrific incident, a youth indiscriminately attacked four of his neighbour’s family with a knife in their residence at Ganapavaram in Nadendla mandal of the district on Friday.

According to Nadendla SI M Chandrasekhar, A Vinod Kumar was working as an electrician at a spinning mill in Ganapavaram and had disputes with his neighbour Sk Nagur. On Thursday, while organising his mother’s first death anniversary, Vinod alleged that his mother died unable to bear the harassment of Nagur’s family.

On learning this, the irate Nagur and his family members exchanged heated arguments with him on Thursday night and asked him to apologise for levelling such baseless remarks against them. However, they gave up the fight after the village elders intervened.

But, on Friday morning, Vinod abused the neighbours yet again and warned them of dire consequences. He purchased a knife and returned home. He then entered into an altercation with Nagur’s family and suddenly assaulted them with the knife.

After hearing the commotion, locals rushed to the spot, caught hold of Vinod and handed him over to the police.
