4.5 lakh visit Pushkar ghats in Guntur Dist

GUNTUR:  About 4.5 lakh people thronged the Pushkar ghats in Guntur district on Friday, the eighth day of Krishna Pushkarams.

Tridandi Chinajeeyar Swamy along with pontiffs and priests performed ‘Samata Snanam’ at the Pushkar ghat at Seethanagaram. He said that in the present society, several evil forces in the name of caste and religion are promoting terrorism and wanted to eliminate the same.

The Guntur MP Galla Jayadev inspected the arrangements at several ghats by sailing on a motor boat in Krishna River.

The APSRTC ferried 2.63 lakh passengers to various Pushkar ghats after operating 1,105 buses on Friday. With the climate remaining hot the whole day, the APSRTC officials distributed water bottles to the pilgrims at temporary bus station at Amaravati Pushkar Nagar.

Meanwhile, an elderly woman suffered a leg injury after she slipped at the Tallayapalem Pushkar ghat. The woman Devaki Devi, from Chandramouli Nagar locality of Guntur city, along with her family members had come to the ghat for taking a holy dip and slipped as a tile on one of the steps had come off.

After administering first aid, the woman was rushed to the Government General Hospital in Guntur.
