14 lakh take holy dip in Nalgonda dist in a day

NALGONDA: With just 48 hours left for Krishna Pushkarams to end, almost all the Pushkaram ghats in the district witnessed heavy rush on Sunday. About 14 lakh pilgrims took holy dip in the district.

Pilgrims from neighbouring districts of Khammam, Warangal, Rangareddy and Hyderabad arrived in the district for a holy bath. In view of the rush, many  places in the district witnessed traffic jams. The police stopped vehicles to clear the traffic. When the Nagarjunasagar, Wadapally and Matapally ghats got thronged, the police appealed to the pilgrims to go to other pushkar ghats in the district.

In Wadapally and Mattapally, pilgrims were forced to return without darshan due to the rush. On Sunday alone, 14,08,303 pilgrims took a holy dip at all Pushkar ghats in the district.
