WB Smuggler caught sneaking 120 kg Ganja

VISAKHAPATNAM: Notorious ganja smuggler, Appilisetti Ramana, was arrested by the Visakhapatnam Rural Police, while he was transporting 120 kg of the contraband in a car, in Kothakota police station limits, on Friday. Ramana, according to sources, has been smuggling ganja since 20 years.

Kothakota Inspector H Malleswara Rao said that the accused used to procure weed from the interior villages of Chintapalli Agency and was transporting it to Hyderabad and Vijayawada. Reportedly, he had stuffed the ganja in 60 small packets stored in six gunny bags in a car.

The police also seized land documents in various areas of Rolugunta, BB Patnam, Ratnampeta and a few others in the Visakhapatnam agency, which Ramana had allegedly bought with the money earned from ganja business. The seized documents would be sent to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Chennai.
