Three women workers drown in bid to cross stream in spate due to heavy rain

GUNTUR: Police on Sunday recovered three bodies of women, who drowned in a stream near Nadimpalli village in Prathipadu mandal on Saturday.

The women, natives of Nadempalli village, were returning to their houses after completing work in a nearby poultry farm when they drowned in the stream which was in spate due to heavy rain on Sunday.

Though there was an over crossing for the stream nearby, the women entered the stream expecting the flow not to be at a dangerous level and got washed away. The victims were identified as Koteswaramma (40), Samrajyamma (35) and Chandrika (14).

After learning about the incident, police went to the spot and recovered the bodies.

Prathipadu police registered a case and are investigating.
