VISAKHAPATNAM: With the increase in footfalls at the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park this picnic season, the authorities are planning to introduce e-PoS machines at the ticket counter to ward off the woes owing to cash shortage.

The tourists who come in groups say that they have come prepared with smaller denomination notes, so that they are not forced to leave without visiting the zoo. “Fortunately, this year, the number of visitors has doubled compared to last November.

With the entrance ticket costing not more than Rs 10 or Rs 20, people did not find it tough get the tender as they usually come in groups of 3-4 families,” said Zoo curator B Vijay Kumar.

“Though the demonetisation has not affected us much, we will be introducing e-PoS machines in another three days for the convenience of tourists, schoolchildren and college students who generally visit the zoo during this season,” the curator added.
