‘Startups with social vision should be given a try always’

To boost up the startup culture and facilitate right mentoring to the aspirants, the Headstart Network Foundation relaunched the Startup Saturday.

VISAKHAPATNAM: To boost up the startup culture and facilitate right mentoring to the aspirants, the Headstart Network Foundation relaunched the Startup Saturday, Vizag Chapter, at Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Visakhapatnam, Saturday. The purpose of Startup Saturday is to provide individuals and startups an idea of how a business runs, taken forward and how to work on a product under the mentorship of experienced entrepreneurs.

The Startup Saturday used to be conducted on second Saturdays of every month, across 17 cities in the nation. It was launched in Vizag in 2015 but was stopped for some reasons.
Over 70 people registered for the relaunch of the initiative, including 30 students of IIM and actively raised questions during the panel discussion. The students asked, why the open discussion of the ideas and products are important and how it is going to help the startups get funds.

The panel had Vasudeva Thumati, CEO of Startup Moksha, Srilalitha Sagi, faculty advisor, GITAM and Ramesh Loganathan of Angel Investor and co-founder of the Headstart.
The panel members gave an overview to the aspirants on incubators and ecosystem of Vizag and asked them to get the benefits provided by the government at the college-level and also asked to set up incubators in every college and establish a network of incubators to boost up startup culture and also suggested to them pursue angel funding.

The experienced entrepreneur Nilesh Korada, founder of Quick Pebbles, Rucha Krishnan, founder of StylePro, shared the measures and challenges they faced. “Entrepreneurship is all about finding solutions. It can be technical and non-technical. The one which has the social angle should be given a try always,” said Ramesh Loganathan.
