Krishna to turn into watersports hub, says APTDC

VIJAYAWADA: In a bid to turn the Krishna into a hub for adventure sports enthusiasts, Watersports Simple India Private Limited has introduced various speed boats and jet kayaks - a vessel sans oars that can attain a speed of up to 40 km per hour in water.

“In the days to come, Vijayawada city will emerge as the most favoured spot for adventure and water enthusiasts with the plans being formulated by the APTDC,” said Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) chairman Jayarami Reddy after formally launching the boats at Punnami Ghat here on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Tarun Kakani, executive director of Watersports Simple India Private Limited said that recently the company had inked an agreement with APTDC under Public Private Partnership (PPP) to operate their boats in coastal Andhra Pradesh.

“We realise that the youth in Andhra Pradesh are keen on exploring the adventures of tourism and this move by the corporation will bring in a large inflow of tourists.Luxury pontoons, livingston cruise boats, porta boats and hobie kayaks will be major attractions,” he said.

APTDC MD Girija Shankar, Smart Andhra Pradesh Foundation CEO R Vijay Kumar and others also present on the occasion.

There has been a rise in demand for adventure sports among the State’s youth.
