HYDERABAD: A Special Economic Offences Court of Hyderabad City issued non-bailable arrest warrant against P Ramakoteswara Rao, managing director of Visweswara Infrastructure Pvt Ltd (VIPL) and husband of Kothapally Geeta, MP of Araku constituency in Andhra Pradesh.
The Special court was dealing an appeal filed by Ramakoteswara Rao challenging his conviction in a cheque bounce case initiated by the Punjab National Bank against him after bouncing of a cheque issued by him for repayment of `25 crore.
Earlier, a lower court convicted him in the cheque bounce case. The special economic offences court issued arrest warrant after he failed to appear before the court.
While issuing the arrest warrant, the special court directed the court at Visakhapatnam to take steps to execute the arrest warrant, and posted the case to December 22.
