One dies, nine injured as tractor overturns near Achanta village

One person died and nine others, including three children, were injured, when a tractor carrying a marriage party overturned and fell into an irrigation channel of Nakkala Kalva near Achanta village.

ELURU: One person died and nine others, including three children, were injured, when a tractor carrying a marriage party overturned and fell into an irrigation channel of Nakkala Kalva near Achanta village on Wednesday afternoon. 

According to police, the mishap occurred while a group of 40 people of Kodamanchili were returning in the ill-fated tractor after attending a marriage at Pandithavilluru village in Achanta mandal. 

The driver lost control over the tractor while trying to avoid an approaching cyclist from being hit and the vehicle overturned and fell into the channel. Local people went to the rescue of the victims. 

Tractor driver Gollapudi Sandeep (18) died while being shifted to Palacole government hospital. The injured included Kombathula Rajkumar (18), Gummadi Pradeep (10), Devabathula Saroja (50), Challapudi Manga (40), Nakka Suresh (38), Devabathula Sandeep (10), Devabathula Naresh (13), Gummadi Kamaliraju (25) and Kakara Suresh (18) were seriously injured in the mishap.

Achanta police registered a case.
