Dance fest to be a feast for the eyes 

A two-day Amaravati Nrityotsav, a festival of traditional Indian dances, would be held at the Ghantasala Government Music and Dance College in the city from December 16.

VIJAYAWADA:  A two-day Amaravati Nrityotsav, a festival of traditional Indian dances, would be held at the Ghantasala Government Music and Dance College in the city from December 16.


According to the chairman of the organizing committee, Ilapuram Raja, eminent Kuchipudi danseuse Padma Vibhushan Dr Yamini Krishna Murthy would be felicitated on the inaugural day for her lifetime contribution to the classical Indian dance.


He said several classical dancers of repute will present performances during the two days. On the first day, artistes from Odisha-based Rudrakshya Foundation would present Odissi dance performance followed by Bharatanatyam by Tara Priyadarsini and Shaly Vijaya from the USA. Artistes of Narayani Gotipua Kala Parishad from Odisha will present Gotipua dance.
