JAC gears up for protest  on Sunday

As the appointed day of December 18 nears, Kapu leaders are getting their act together to begin afresh agitation for Backward Class status for the community.

KAKINADA : As the appointed day of December 18 nears, Kapu leaders are getting their act together to begin afresh agitation for Backward Class status for the community.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Thursday, Joint Action Committee of Kapu Reservation Movement convenor Vasireddy Yesu Dasu said members of the JAC would register their protest against the delay in provision of quota to the community by beating empty steel plates with large spoons all at a time while staying in their houses in the 175 Assembly constituencies of the State.

“The beating of plates is intended to wake up the TDP Government which is in a deep slumber on the quota issue,” he said.

The JAC movement will go on till it reaches its logical conclusion of getting BC status for Kapus. Mudragada Padmanabham will lead the agitation. On December 30, all the JAC leaders will submit memoranda to MLAs and MPs seeking BC reservation for Kapus,  Yesu Dasu said.
