VISAKHAPATNAM: Wife of ‘Potti’ Ramesh, the comedy artiste of the popular television show Jabardasth, committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her in-law’s house in Gajuwaka area on Monday late night. Family member of the victim, Tripurambika (22), allege that harassment by Ramesh’s parents forced her to resort to the extreme step.
The incident came to light on Tuesday after the family members of Tripurambika lodged a complaint with the Gajuwaka police. Tripurambika, a native of Nellore, got married to Ramesh in December last year.
According to sources, Ramesh’s sister found Tripurambika hanging from a ceiling fan in her room and alerted the family members, who broke the door open. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead. ‘Potti’ Ramesh, who was in Hyderabad for a shoot, came to know of it and rushed to Vizag.
However, parents of Tripurambika alleged that her in-laws had been harassing her since marriage. A case has been registered against the family of Ramesh under Section 304 B of the IPC. The body has been shifted to King George Hospital for post-mortem.
‘Potti Ramesh’ is a comedy artiste in the popular TV show Jabardasth, who acts in most of the skits along with Bhaskar and their team is called “Bullet Bhaskar” team.
