Inter student kills self by jumping before running train

A 17-year-old Intermediate girl committed suicide by jumping before a running train near Pundi in Srikakulam district on Wednesday.

SRIKAKULAM: A 17-year-old Intermediate girl committed suicide by jumping before a running train near Pundi in Srikakulam district on Wednesday.

The girl has been identified as Kanchu Sobha, a resident of Nelliparti village of Amudalavalasa mandal and an Intermediate student of the Women’s College at Srikakulam.

According to Palasa GRP sub-inspector K Ravi Kumar, the incident took place at around 11.30 am between Pundi and Palasa railway stations. Sobha in her suicide note in Telugu said, “Amma Nanna Vachenta Varaku Yemi Cheyyoddu”   (do not do anything till my parents arrive). The police also recovered a train ticket along with the note.

They suspect that the girl might have travelled from Srikakulam to Pundi.
The body was shifted to Palasa hospital for postmortem and a case has been registered at Palasa Railway police station.

After the postmortem, the body was handed over to the parents. The police, which started  investigation, are yet to come ascertain the cause of suicide.
