Tension prevails during demolition drive 

Tension prevailed for sometime during the anti-encroachment drive undertaken by the CRDA officials at CM Road in Nandigama town.

VIJAYAWADA: Tension prevailed for sometime during the anti-encroachment drive undertaken by the CRDA officials at CM Road in Nandigama town of Krishna district on Thursday, as a builder attempted suicide by consuming pesticide after a portion of his building was demolished by the CRDA officials.

Accidentally the liquid spilled into the mouth of a CRDA official, when he tried to prevent the builder from resorting to the extreme step.

According to CRDA development promotion director V Ramudu, CRDA Nandigama zone official Sai Baba with the support of local police conducted demolition drive on unauthorised structures in Nandigama.

Vexed with the demolition drive, a builder Ravuri Ravi attempted suicide by consuming pesticide, but the liquid had accidentally spilled into the mouth of a CRDA official.  

Soon after the incident, Sai Baba was shifted to government hospital in Nandigama for treatment, while the builder was taken to a private hospital. The health condition of the CRDA official and the builder is said to be stable.
