V’wada all set for Swachh Survekshan

The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation is gearing up to make it to the top in the Union government’s Swachh Survekshan 2017, a cleanliness survey of towns and cities.

VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation is gearing up to make it to the top in the Union government’s Swachh Survekshan 2017, a cleanliness survey of towns and cities.
According to VMC officials, the Union government has chosen 500 cities and towns in the country having a population of over 1 lakh and above for the survey. A Central team will arrive here for the survey between January 4 - 20 and the ranking will be announced on February 15, 2017. This year, Vijayawada ranked 23rd in Swachh Survekshan-2016.

Swachh Andhra Mission executive vice chairman Dr. CL Venkata Rao had inspected  divisions in the city and inquired about the measures taken by the civic body over maintaining the sanitation at the ground level.
